Frequently Asked Questions

What type of camera and lenses do you use?

I am currently using a Canon 5d mark iii. I have 3 main lenses that I use at sessions. The Canon 50mm 1.2L is my go-to for most of my newborn and outdoor sessions. I use a Canon 100mm 2.8 for macro shots during newborn sessions. I also have a Canon 16-35mm 2.8 that I use for any wide angle outdoor shots as well as family shots at a newborn session. I have tried many lenses and I find that this is the combination that works best for me!

Do you have a studio or do you shoot on location?

I mostly do on location for client sessions. I have a home studio set up, but I find it easier for new families to have a session in their home vs traveling anywhere. I remember what it was like with a new baby and I try to be as accommodating as possible to my potential clients.

How do you bring all your props to a session at a clients home?

I have so many props it is not even funny, I even joke with clients that I move in for a few hours.. 🙂 I have found that using roll up flooring is a good option (I have actually carried real wood boards to sessions). Now that I have a good system I am able to set up in a very small area and still feel like I have all the props that I need for the session.

What lighting do you use?

I use a Einstein E640 with a Paul C. Buff 60″ PLM. I have tried other lights and other light diffusers and this is by far my favorite combination. The PLM makes the light creamy, even, and oh so lovely!

Do you only photograph only newborns?

I specialize in newborns and babies up to a year, but I also photograph older children, families, and maternity. I do not enjoy shooting events or weddings and have stopped offering them after years of accepting them and regretting it. 🙂

How long have you been a photographer?

I started my business journey with photography when my oldest daughter was born. It has been an amazing (and long) journey with photography. It is one of the most rewarding experiences of my life, I love that you can never stop learning, changing, and getting better!
